Texas A&M hosts SEC foe Florida

COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The Texas A&M men's and women's swimming and diving team will host the Florida Gators in a 2 p.m. dual meet on Saturday at the Student Recreation Natatorium on the Texas A&M campus. Admission to the Southeastern Conference matchup is free.

"Florida has a great tradition in swimming and the guys have definitely been looking forward to the challenge of facing the Gators. We have a lot of things that we need to work on and this is a great opportunity to do it in a very competitive setting. The team in a good place and they have been working hard and doing everything we've asked them to do."
 
MOST RECENT ACTION  FOR THE MEN'S TEAM:
Men's Team: The Aggie men downed SEC foe South Carolina, 176-118, in its home opener on Oct. 28. The Aggies put on a dominating performance with 11 wins in 16 possible events, including taking at least the top two spots in seven events. Leading the way for the Aggies with multiple individual victories were junior Brock Bonetti, junior Mauro Castillo and senior Jacob Gonzales. Bonetti, from Bakersfield, Calif., won the 100-yard backstroke (47.67) and the 200 back (1:45.38). Castillo, from Zacatecas, Mexico, won the 100 breaststroke (54.31) and the 200 breast (1:58.37). Gonzales, from Spring, Texas, swept the 50 free (20.34) and the 100 free (44.65). Logging solo victories were sophomore Skylar Lake in the one-meter dive (353.10), senior Turker Ayar in the 100 butterfly (49.23) and junior Tyler Henschel in the three-meter dive (352.43).
 
TEXAS A&M WOMEN'S HEAD COACH STEVE BULTMAN:
"Florida has been one of the top teams, not only in the SEC, but also in the nation for many years, so we know we'll have our work cut out for us. I was really happy with the way we raced against the Longhorns (on Thursday) and we're right where we need to be at this point in the season."
 
MOST RECENT ACTION  FOR THE WOMEN'S TEAM:
The Aggie women dropped a 166.5-128.5 decision to No. 7 Texas on Thursday in Austin. The Aggies tallied first- or second-place finishes in 15 of 16 events, but couldn't catch the quick-starting Longhorns. The Longhorn victory evens the series at 2-2 since the rivalry was resumed in 2013-14. Grabbing first-place finishes for the Aggies were juniors Lisa Bratton and Béryl Gastaldello, who touched first in the 200-yard backstroke and the 100 butterfly, respectively. Texas A&M grabbed two of the top three spots in five individual races. Junior Bethany Galat was third in the 100 fly behind Gastaldello, and she also led a 2-3 Aggie finish with Bratton in the 200 IM. Juniors Jorie Caneta and Franko Jonker placed second and third in the 100 breaststroke, Gastadello and redshirt freshman Raena Eldridge finished second and third in the 50 free and senior Ashley McGregor led a 2-3-4 finish in the 200 breast with Jonker and sophomore Sydney Pickrem right behind. Other Aggies grabbing runner-up finishes were senior Sycerika McMahon in 1,000 free senior Sarah Gibson in the 200 fly and the 500 free, and senior Madison Hudkins in the one-meter dive (300.90).
