Former Players Home Run Derby & Game Slated for Saturday

COLLEGE STATION, Texas - Over 60 Aggies from the past convene on Olsen Field at Blue Bell Park for the Former Players Home Run Derby & Game on Saturday, October 20. Admission is free and fans are encouraged to attend the event.

COLLEGE STATION, Texas - Over 60 Aggies from the past convene on Olsen Field at Blue Bell Park for the Former Players Home Run Derby & Game on Saturday, October 20. Admission is free and fans are encouraged to attend the event.

The Former Players Home Run Derby is slated to begin at 10:30 a.m. and the Former Players Game is scheduled for 1 p.m.

"This is a tremendous event, not only for our great fans, but for the players, staff and coaches involved with Aggie Baseball both past and present," Texas A&M head coach Rob Childress said. "This program has always been a family, and I think this event showcases that. It's an event we always look forward to, and it's going to be a lot of fun."

The Aggies are proud to welcome back numerous players from the 1950s, including Joe Ecrette ('52), Guy Wallace ('51).

Six players with Major League experience are expected to attend, including Kevin Beirne, Matt Blank, Cliff Pennington, Justin Ruggiano, Alex Wilson and Kelly Wunsch.

Also in attendance will be former Aggie head coach Mark Johnson, a member of the Southwest Conference Hall of Fame and Texas A&M's career leader for coaching wins.
