NORMAN, Okla. – The Texas A&M men's golf team earned 2023-24 All-Academic Team status from the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) after another outstanding school year in the classroom.
The honor put the Aggies in rare air. They were one of just five SEC teams to claim the distinction. Of the 30 teams to advance to the NCAA Championships, Texas A&M was one of only nine teams to land on the list. To earn GCAA All-Academic Team recognition, squads must achieve a 3.0 or higher GPA for the entire school year.
"This is a hard-working team, whether it's in the classroom or on the golf course," head coach Brian Kortan said. "I'm proud of these guys and the effort they put in setting a high academic standard. It's a total team award and that extends all the way to the great academic services office we have and the support they give to our student athletes."
In the classroom, the Aggies were paced by standouts Michael Heidelbaugh and Vishnu Sadagopan who garnered Cobalt Golf All-America Scholar recognition, from the GCAA last week. The duo dominated in the classroom, sporting cumulative GPAs over 3.40. Heidelbaugh and Sadagopan earned the award for the second consecutive season.
Texas A&M registered a win at the Louisiana Classics, finished runner-up at the Aggie Invitational and added third-place performances at the Marquette Invitational, Furman Intercollegiate and NCAA Stanford Regional.
