Nelson Named to CSC Academic All-America Third Team

AUSTIN – Texas A&M men's swimming & diving's Baylor Nelson was named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-America Third Team, the organization announced Wednesday. This is the first of such honors for Nelson, after he was recently named to the CSC Academic All-District Team.
Nelson recently closed out a successful sophomore campaign in Aggieland, notching a pair of top-eight individual finishes at NCAA Championships after defending both of his SEC IM titles en route to earning his second Commissioner's Trophy as a high-scorer at the conference championship meet. He took down the school record in the 400 IM with a time of 3:37.46 to place third at NCAAs, adding an eighth-place finish in the 200 IM with a time of 1:41.54. The Huntersville, North Carolina, native is now a six-time All-American and has medaled six times at SEC Championships after earning gold in both the 200 IM and 400 IM for the second straight season and a bronze in the 200 breast. A journalism studies major, Nelson has also impressed in the classroom as he boasts a 3.66 GPA and has been named to the First-Year SEC Academic Honor Roll and AD Honor Roll.
