No. 9 Volleyball Travels to No. 16 Tennessee for Ranked Matchup

KNOXVILLE – The No. 9 Texas A&M Volleyball team heads to the home of the No. 16 Lady Vols for a ranked matchup Sunday afternoon at the Food City Center with first serve set for 2 p.m.
The Aggies take a mountain of momentum into Knoxville, as they're coming off their highest-ranked home win in program history after downing the No. 2 Longhorns in a five-set thriller at Reed Arena. The victory extended the Maroon & White's winning streak to six and improved their best start in SEC play to 10-1 since joining the conference in 2012.
Texas A&M was spurred to victory by two standout showings from Ifenna Cos-Okpalla and Kyndal Stowers. Cos-Okpalla filled the stat sheet with a career-best 15 kills, at a .609 hitting percentage, and added nine blocks accounting for a career-high 19.5 points. Stowers saved her best performance since joining the Aggies for the biggest stage, ripping off a season-high 22 kills while hitting a staggering .400 percent. The redshirt-sophomore also matched her all-time best of four blocks and recorded 63 receptions in the contest.
The Maroon & White's blocking dominance was on full display in the fixture, as they recorded 14 as a unit compared to Texas' four. Individually, three Aggies recorded five or more stuffs in the game led by Cos-Okpalla's nine, followed by Logan Lednicky with six and Morgan Perkins with five.
The Matchups
Sunday's contest will be the 27th meeting between Texas A&M and Tennessee, with the Lady Vols holding a two-match advantage in the all-time series, 14-12. The Maroon & White have a small advantage since joining the SEC, as they're 10-9 in conference games, but Tennessee has had the upper hand in the last four matchups.
The Lady Vols have defended home court throughout much of the season, standing 10-2 in Knoxville. Their record took a hit last time out, as they dropped a 3-1 contest versus Missouri on Friday. Texas A&M looks to improve its road luck, carrying a 6-9 record when playing at the home of the Orange and White.
Both programs stand out in the league's team statistical rankings, as they're top five in the conference in hitting percentage, opponent hitting percentage, kills per set and assists per set. The Aggies hold a slight advantage defensively, leading in blocks and digs per frame, while the Lady Vols have the upper hand from the service line.
