Nelson, Bottego Add All-America Accolades on Day Three at NCAAs

FEDERAL WAY, Wash. – Texas A&M's Baylor Nelson notched a top-eight finish to earn All-America recognition and Allen Bottego added Honorable Mention distinction Friday night at Men's NCAA Swimming & Diving Championships at the Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatics Center. The Aggies sit in 14th with 57.5 points through three days of competition.
Nelson advanced to his first championship final of the week and added big points for the Aggies with a seventh-place finish, clocking in at 3:39.84 to secure the eighth All-America accolade of his career.
Bottego earned his spot in the 3-meter consolation final with a top-10 score in prelims. He went on to take 11th in the final, jumping up the scoreboard with an 89.30 on his final dive to finish with a score of 410.80 and bring home the second All-America honor of his career.
The 400 medley relay squad of Thomas Shomper, Alex Sanchez, Connor Foote and Ben Scholl closed out the night with an 18th-place finish, clocking in at 3:04.91.
Competition concludes Saturday with Aggies in action in the 100 free, 200 breast, platform and 400 free relay. Links to live swimming results and streaming can be found here, while live diving results can be found here.
