Trio of Aggies Set for 80th U.S. Women’s Open

ERIN HILLS, Wisc. – Texas A&M's Vanessa Borovilos, Hailee Cooper and Lauren Nguyen are set to compete at the 80th U.S. Women's Open at Erin Hills May 29-June 1.
Borovilos is making her first appearance at the prestigious major event. She won her qualifier at Elgin Country Club May 12 to earn her spot in the field. The freshman was tabbed as a WGCA Honorable Mention All-American and All-SEC Second Teamer after helping the Aggies earn their fourth straight regional invitation this past year. The Canadian tees off at 6:45 a.m. Thursday morning to begin the tournament.
Cooper is making her second trip to the U.S. Women's Open after clinching a spot at the Canyon Creek Country Club Qualifier April 17. In her first appearance in 2018, Cooper made the cut and finished tied for 55th. The Montgomery, Texas, native played two seasons for the Aggies (2021-23) where she helped lead the program to two straight NCAA semifinal berths and the 2023 SEC Championship. Cooper is currently on the Epson Tour where she is No. 8 on the Race for the Card Leaderboard. Cooper has finished in the top 25, including three top 10 outings, this season on the tour. The former All-American is scheduled to tee off at 12:30 p.m. in the first round.
Nguyen is also making her U.S. Women's Open debut after earning her ticket to the major at the St. Clair Country Club Qualifier April 28. The Katy, Texas, native won a 3-for-1 playoff at the qualifier to advance. Nguyen played in 33 rounds for the Aggies this past season, helping the team finish No. 20 on the final Scoreboard Team Rankings. Nguyen tees off at 12:30 p.m. Thursday.
All three Aggies are looking to make the cut after the first 36 holes of the tournament. The top 60 golfers and ties will move onto the final two rounds Saturday and Sunday. Live stats for the event can be found at uswomensopen.com and the tournament broadcast schedule can be found here.
