D1 Softball Tabs Dement to All-America Freshman First Team

BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION – Texas A&M softball's KK Dement has been named to the D1 Softball All-America Freshman First Team, the organization announced Thursday.
Dement set Texas A&M freshman records with 18 doubles and 64 RBI, while ranking fourth-most all-time in program history. The Selma, Calif., native led the Aggies in doubles and her 16 homers tied for a team best. Dement ranked second among the Aggies in slugging percentage (.743), total bases (124) and third in RBI (64).
The rookie stepped up in postseason action slashing .500/.577/1.364 in seven games, while leading the Aggies with five home runs, four doubles and a 1.941 OPS. Dement was named to the SEC All-Tournament Team after she matched the SEC Tournament RBI record with nine. She recorded her first multi-home run game with a two-run homer and three-run dinger against Texas to send Texas A&M to its first ever SEC Tournament title game.
In NCAA regional action, Dement led the team with three home runs and three doubles, while boasting a 1.333 slugging percentage in five games. She finished the weekend 8-for-15, while adding eight runs and driving in six.
