Aggie Men Punch 12 Tickets to National Championships on Third Day of NCAA West First Round

BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION – The Aggie men punched 12 tickets to National Championships on day three of the NCAA West First Round at E.B. Cushing Stadium. In total the Maroon & White will send 11 individuals and both relays to NCAA Championships in Eugene, Oregon.
The Aggies started things off with the 4x100m punching the first ticket of the day to the NCAA Championships as Ja'Qualon Scott, Ernest Campbell, Mason Mangum and Auhmad Robinson clocked the fourth-fastest time of the day with a mark of 38.96. The time was a team season best and the first sub-39 second time of the year for Texas A&M.
The Maroon & White added another pair of qualifications shortly after, as Cooper Cawthra punched his ticket in the 1,500m with a time of 3:40.15 to finish third overall and Victor Kibiego followed in the 3,000m steeplechase using a time of 8:32.83 to secure second in his heat.
Scott will make back-to-back individual appearances at the NCAA Championships with the No. 2 qualifying time in the 110m hurdles, crossing the line with a wind-aided mark of 13.16. Later in the evening, he added another event advancing to Eugene in the 400m hurdles going 48.87. Joining Scott in the 400m hurdles at NCAAs is Bryce McCray who crossed the line in 49.56, which was good for ninth in the A&M record book.
Campbell kept the momentum going on the track in the 100m posting an all-conditions best time of 10.02 to claim fifth overall.
In the 400m the Aggies punched three tickets to the championships led by Robinson who posted the fourth-fastest time of the night, 45.57. Hossam Eddine Hatib and Cutler Zamzow added top-12 qualifying times of 45.85 and 45.93, respectively.
Sam Whitmarsh sailed to a top finish in his heat, second overall, in the 800m with a time of 1:46.68 booking his ticket to Eugene.
Capping off the regional for the Aggie men was the 4x400m team of Hatib, Zamzow, Kimar Farquharson and Robinson who took fifth place overall ending the night with a mark of 3:02.57.
