May 09, 2025 | Softball
BIRMINGHAM – Texas A&M softball's Emiley Kennedy and Mya Perez earned All-SEC First Team recognition, while Mac Barbara, Amari Harper and Koko Wooley received All-SEC Second Team honors.
Kennedy is the first Aggie to earn All-SEC First Team honors in consecutive seasons, while becoming only the second Aggie to earn multiple first team recognitions in their career joining Tori Vidales (2016, 2018). The Woodlands, Texas, native finished SEC play ranked first with 12 wins and four shutouts, second with 10 complete games and holding opposing hitters to a .189 batting average. Her 82 strikeouts and 2.82 ERA were fourth best in league action, while making 12 starts in 15 appearances. Kennedy finished the conference regular season earning SEC Pitcher of the Week honors on May 5. The senior went 2-0 at No. 2 Tennessee, including two complete games totaling 12.0 innings pitched and 16 strikeouts finishing the series with a 1.17 ERA.
Perez earned her first career All-SEC recognition after her .541 on-base percentage ranked second, fifth with a .393 batting average and seventh with a .721 slugging percentage. The Corona, Calif., native is the first Aggie sophomore to earn first team honors since 2016 when Tori Vidales and Ashley Walters accomplished the feat. Perez reached base safely in 21-of-23 SEC games, including a nine on-base streak to finish the SEC season. The infielder had an SEC-best game against No. 6 LSU going 4-for-5 with three doubles, two RBI and one run in the series opener, while in the middle game she was walked four times and added a run to help clinch the series. Perez finished the SEC campaign slashing .393/.541/.721 with five home runs, five doubles, while adding 19 RBI and 10 runs.
Barbara ranked second in the SEC in league play with 28 RBI and led the Aggies with 25 hits, while adding five home runs, three doubles and 14 runs. The transfer from San Diego State garnered her first career All-SEC recognition. Harper led the conference with nine hit-by pitches, second with three sac flies and was 11th with a .494 on-base percentage. The junior was named the SEC Co-Player of the Week on March 18 after going 5-for-7 with two home runs, five RBI, three runs and totaled a 2.464 OPS in the series sweep at No. 22 Auburn. The All-SEC recognition marked a career first for the Corona, Calif., native. Wooley garnered her third career All-SEC Second Team honor after finishing fifth in the SEC with six doubles and sixth with six stolen bases. The senior earned SEC Co-Player of the Week on April 22 after slashing .700/.727/.900, while leading the team with seven hits, nine total bases and three stolen bases in the series win at Missouri.
No. 1 Texas A&M is next in action against No. 5 Texas Friday night in the semifinal round of the SEC Tournament. The Aggies are the No. 2 seed, while the Longhorns are the No. 3 seed, and first pitch is slated for 5:40 p.m. on ESPN2 at Jack Turner Stadium.
