ERIN, Wis. – Former Texas A&M standout Hailee Cooper fired a 2-under 70 on Sunday to cement her place in the top 10 at seventh (tie) at the 80th U.S. Women's Open at Erin Hills Golf Course.
Cooper, who lettered for the Aggies in 2022 and 2023, becomes the first Texas A&M player to finish in the top 10 at the U.S. Open. The previous best finish by an Aggie at the Open was a tie for 13th by Jamie Hullett at the 2005 edition at Cherry Hills in Colorado.
"What a life changing week for Hailee up to this point in her professional career," Texas A&M women's golf head coach Gerrod Chadwell said. "It was easy to see how comfortable she was this week, and the only question was how she would handle the emotions of the weekend. Not only did she handle them well but moved up the board into the top 10! She handles everything with such class and is a great ambassador for our program! We are so happy for her and know this is only the beginning!"
Cooper, from Montgomery, Texas, carded par or better rounds each day and finished at 3-under for the tournament with rounds of 71-72-72-70. On Sunday, Cooper used six birdies, including one on the 72nd hole, to offset four bogeys for her 2-under 70.
Cooper is currently on the Epson Tour where she is No. 8 on the Race for the Card Leaderboard. Cooper has finished in the top 25, including three top 10 outings, this season on the tour.
