Aug 25, 2025 | Women's Golf
COLUMBUS, Ga. – Texas A&M's Cayetana Fernández García-Poggio and Vanessa Borovilos were named to the 2025 ANNIKA Award Preseason Watch List, the Haskins Foundation announced Monday.
The ANNIKA Award is given to the top female Division I collegiate golfer and is voted on by players, coaches and media members during the NCAA Championships.
This marks Fernández García-Poggio's second time on the preseason watch list and Borovilos's first. Fernández García-Poggio is coming off a season in which she was named to the Golfweek All-America Third Team and the All-SEC First Team. The rising junior won two tournaments during the 2024-25 campaign and is ranked as the No. 36 golfer on the World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR).
Borovilos turned in a stellar freshman season last year, earning honorable mention All-America honors from Golfweek and the Women's Golf Coaches Association. The Canadian was also named to the All-SEC Freshman Team and logged one win with three runner-up finishes. Borovilos comes in as the No. 45 golfer on the WAGR.
The Aggies are led by fourth-year head coach Gerrod Chadwell who has taken the team to two NCAA semifinals (2022, 2023) and one NCAA quarterfinal (2024) during his time guiding the program. Chadwell signed the No. 2 recruiting class to go along with Borovilos and Fernández García-Poggio and inked elite transfer Louise Reau this offseason.
The Maroon & White begin the season at The Carmel Cup at the historic Pebble Beach Golf Links Aug. 29-31.
