BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION – The Texas A&M soccer team came up short in a 1-0 hard nose battle against the No. 10 Arkansas Razorbacks during the annual Turn It Gold Match on Sunday evening.
In a defensive showdown that produced just three shots-on-goal total, the Razorbacks struck early when Vailana Tu'ua found the back of the net in the 11th minute. Despite outshooting Arkansas 10-4, the Aggies were unable to find the equalizer.
A&M's best chance came in the 88th minute when Trinity Buchanan's corner connected with Kennedy Clark, who sent a cross into the box. Kaylee Noble ripped a shot toward the top center of the goal, but it was tipped over the crossbar by the keeper.
Both squads played physically, finishing even in fouls (12-12). The Aggies dropped to 3-4-3 overall, including 0-3-0 in the SEC while Arkansas improved to 5-2-2 and 3-0-0 in league action.

TEXAS A&M QUOTES
Head Coach G Guerrieri On turning around the season... "Yeah, I mean, it's tough when you create so many chances and the ball just doesn't go in. Eventually, luck has to turn. I was proud of our girls for the fight. You play against the most physical team in the country and you come out on the upper hand in everything except for the score."
Junior forward Leah Diaz
On what the Aggies did well despite the loss...
"I definitely think we controlled the game a bit more than Arkansas. This is just a very kick-and-run game, and I think we handled that very well and did what we could and battled and fought in the air and on the ground."
UP NEXT…
The Aggies return to action Friday when they travel to Knoxville to face the No. 5 Tennessee Volunteers in a 6 p.m. contest at Regal Soccer Stadium.
