COLLEGE STATION – Texas A&M standouts Violeta Martinez and Lexington Reed earned spots on the College Sports Communicators NCAA Division I Academic All-District Team the CSC announced Thursday.

The pair were also named as finalists for Academic All-America with voting among CSC members currently underway. To qualify for Academic All-America, student-athletes must maintain a minimum 3.50 cumulative GPA, be at least as sophomore academically, and be a starter or key reserve.

Martinez enters the NCAA quarterfinal round with a 23-11 singles record, including 17-7 in dual action. She finished the SEC regular season slate with an 8-3 mark as the Aggies won a share of their fifth consecutive title. Martinez qualified for the NCAA Individual Championships in singles play in the fall. She has also logged 20 wins in doubles play.

The Port St. Lucie, Florida, product sports a 3.80 grade-point average majoring in race, gender and ethnicity.

Reed boasts an 18-7 singles record, with a 10-4 league ledger. She is currently slotted No. 106 in the ITA singles rankings. Reed logged a 17-8 doubles record, including an 11-2 mark in league action.

The Orlando, Florida native owns a 3.88 grade-point average majoring in sport management.
