
Montgomery Earns Call to Major Leagues

CHICAGO – Former Texas A&M outfielder Braden Montgomery is set to make his Major League Baseball debut after being called up by the Chicago White Sox. The outfielder is ranked as the No. 21 prospect in baseball by MLB Pipeline.
Montgomery, who was selected 12th overall by the Boston Red Sox in the 2024 MLB Draft, will become the 69th Aggie to make their big-league debut. He becomes the first Aggie this season to make their Major League debut.
In 56 minor-league games this season between Double-A Birmingham and Triple-A Charlotte, Montgomery owns a .314/.422/.548 slash line with 52 runs scored and 41 RBI. He has belted 13 doubles, 10 home runs and three triples while stealing five bases. Across two years in the minors, Montgomery has logged a .284 batting average with 47 doubles, 22 home runs, seven triples and 109 RBI.
The switch-hitting outfielder provided an undeniable impact to the 2024 Texas A&M lineup, contributing to the team's run to the College World Series Finals. In his lone season in Aggieland, Montgomery slashed .322/.454/.733 with 14 doubles and 65 runs scored. His 27 home runs and 85 RBI during the 2024 campaign each ranked third-most in a single season in program history.
The Madison, Mississippi, native was a unanimous All-America selection in 2024 and was named to the All-SEC First Team and All-SEC Defensive Team.
Montgomery becomes the 12th Aggie to make an appearance in the MLB this season, joining Brandyn Garcia (Arizona Diamondbacks), Michael Helman (Texas Rangers), Nolan Hoffman (Philadelphia Phillies), Stephen Kolek (Kansas City Royals), Corbin Martin (Chicago Cubs), Bryce Miller (Seattle Mariners), A.J. Minter (New York Mets), Brooks Raley (New York Mets), Christian Roa (Houston Astros), Braden Shewmake (Houston Astros) and Michael Wacha (Kansas City Royals).
The White Sox begin a three-game home series with the Atlanta Braves Tuesday night at 6:40 p.m. from Guaranteed Rate Field.
