Tutoring
The Sinn Academic & Wellness Center employs approximately 120-140 part-time academic tutors per semester. These tutors consist of both undergraduate and graduate students, as well as some professionals from the College Station/Bryan community. Tutoring provides student-athletes additional support and clarification of course materials learned in the classroom. Our tutors uphold professionalism, academic integrity and maintain the confidentiality of the student-athletes information. Tutors can be utilized in three ways: individual tutoring, subject specific labs, and group review sessions.
One-on-One Sessions
We have subject specific tutors that will typically have sessions that last for one hour. Most of our tutors will meet with their student-athletes one to two times per week for the duration of the semester. The amount of sessions per week are determined by the student-athlete, Scholastic Supervisor and the Tutor Coordinator.
Group “Review Sessions”
Review sessions are scheduled by the Tutor Coordinator and are held during weeks that tests are coming up. These courses generally have five or more student-athletes enrolled who need supplementary instruction outside of the classroom. The main purpose of these review sessions is to prepare student-athletes to do well on examinations.
