James Wilson

James Wilson is in his third season as associate head coach with Texas A&M women’s tennis as the Aggies embark on the 2026-27 campaign.

Texas A&M experienced great success in Wilson’s second year on staff, posting a 28-5 record and bringing home the second national championship in program history. The Aggies won their fifth consecutive SEC regular-season title and finished tied for third at the conference tournament.

Under Wilson, the Aggies have produced three All-Americans including Mary Stoiana, Nicole Khirin and Lucciana Perez. Perez and Mia Kupres also landed All-SEC spots during the 2025-26 campaign. Perez was named as the ITA National Player of the Year and SEC Player of the Year.

A tireless worker, Wilson is recognized as one of the top recruiters. The efforts paid off with the top recruiting class in 2026.

Wilson owns 18 years of collegiate tennis experience, including a three-year playing career at Texas Tech and 14 years of coaching. He most recently served as the head coach of the Georgia State men's team.
 
Prior to his time with the Panthers, Wilson spent three seasons at South Florida as the associate head coach of the men’s tennis team. He helped the Bulls notch back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances and secure an upset win over Duke in the opening round. USF posted a 40-25 mark with Wilson on staff.

Wilson has championships experience of his own, winning two-straight conference titles during his head coaching stint at Utah State, where the Aggies’ men’s team also secured NCAA Tournament berths in both seasons. The Aggies also set their program record for wins in a single season under Wilson's tutelage, accumulating 23 victories in the 2016-17 season. For his tenure at USU, Wilson posted a 61-27 mark. Utah State's success under Wilson's leadership was recognized by the league, as he was named Mountain West Coach of the Year in the 2018 season.
