The Texas A&M equestrian team won its second competition in as many days with a 14-8 victory over Kansas State on Sunday afternoon at N.W. ?'Dick?™ Freeman Arena.
The Aggies won three of the four disciplines against the Wildcats. A&M captured equitation on the flat (3-2), horsemanship (5-1) and reining (4-1).
A&M got its biggest boost on Sunday from its horsemanship riders. The Aggies won five of the six head-to-head match-ups with some impressive individual scoring.
?I thought they had more solid rides today versus yesterday,? said A&M horsemanship coach Beth Bass. ?They learned from yesterday?™s mistakes and applied them in the ring today.?
Freshman Caroline Gunn (Greensburg, Ind.) improved her seasonal record to 7-0-1 with a solid 78.5-69.5 win over Kansas State?™s Sara Coomes. Gunn earned MVP honors for the third time this season as well.
Senior co-captain Christine Sceets (Baytown) was the Aggies?™ next highest scorer in horsemanship, posting a 76-72.5 win over KSU?™s Laura Browne. Sceets, the 2006 Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) national champion in advanced horsemanship, earned her second win of the semester.
Senior co-captain Sassie Broaddus (El Paso) earned a horsemanship win over the Wildcats?™ Mikaela Sundgren, 74-70.5, moving her yearly record in the event to 3-2. Broaddus tied KSU?™s Danielle Pettera in reining at 67 points apiece as well.
Senior Kate Toomey (Lake Oswego, Ore.), a two-time IHSA national champion, produced her second strong ride in as many appearances this month with a 73-71 horsemanship win over Wildcat Lindsey Salsbury. Toomey notched a score of 78 earlier this month against Baylor.

Junior Ashlie Soderstrom (Lake Oswego, Ore.) was one of two A&M riders to record a score of 83. Soderstrom defeated KSU?™s Whitney Snyder, 83-79, to earn her second MVP award in as many days.

The western riders turned in yet another strong reining performance in defeating Kansas State, 4-2.
?We had some bobbles yesterday but every one of them rode really smart and had very nice runs today,? A&M head coach Tana Rawson said.
Sophomore Tonna Brooks (Newberg, Ore.) was named MVP in reining for the second straight day after defeating KSU?™s Sara Weller, 69.5-58.5. Brooks is a perfect 13-0 in horsemanship and reining combined this season.

Fellow soph Erin Ivy (Cypress) earned the A&M?™s other fences win, an 83.5-75 victory over Ashley Collett.
?We had little mistakes over fences that hurt us today but we are increasing our strength and getting more consistent on the flat,? A&M English coach Linzy Woolf said.
The Aggies will be back in action this Saturday, March 3, at Oklahoma State. The following day, A&M will get a re-match with Kansas State in Manhattan.
