COLLEGE STATION – The No. 6 Texas A&M equestrian team notched their second SEC victory of the season with an 11-8 victory over the No. 2 South Carolina Gamecocks, remaining unbeaten at home by SEC opponents.
The Aggies were led by Leah Chenelle and Jaci Marley, the MOP winners in Equitation over Fences and Reining, as they defeated USC in the first match up between the programs in the Hildebrand Equine Complex.
The Aggies fell behind early, falling 3-2 in Fences and Horsemanship and breaking even with the Gamecocks on the Flat. The Aggies came roaring back in Reining, sweeping USC 5-0 to win the event and the meet.
Hunter seat wins for the Aggies came from Chenelle and Alex Desiderio over fences and Marlena Parker and Anna Rea on the flat.
A&M's excellent western performance highlighted by a complete domination in Reining, where victories from all five starters closed out the victory for the Aggies.
Overall, the Texas A&M equestrian team claimed seven victories on the western side. Kaci Fisher and Avery Ellis recorded wins in Horsemanship and Sarah Kate Grider, Hannah Jecow, Jaci Marley, Logan Pluhar and Laura Sumrall came out victorious in reining.
