Women's Basketball
- Joni Taylor and Team USA finished the group phase with a commanding 87-68 victory over Germany. The Americans posted a 3-0 record in group play and a 68-point differential in those victories. Taylor and the Red, White and Blue will start the quarterfinals on Wednesday, Aug. 7.
Track & Field
- Fred Kerley won the second Olympic medal of his career in the men's 100m, as he crossed the line in a season's-best 9.81 to secure the bronze medal. Kerley is the only athlete in the final field to claim a medal in the 100m in two separate Games.
Swimming
- Beryl Gastaldello swam the anchor leg for France's 4x100m medley relay team in the final swimming event of the Paris Games, placing sixth with a time of 3:56.29.
