Aggies in the Olympics Recap: August 9

Women's Basketball

Joni Taylor and the Women's National Team dominated Australia in a wire-to-wire victory on Friday, 85-64. The Americans had 31 assists on 34 made field goals and forced the Aussies to shoot 36.2% from the floor. Team USA will play on Sunday at 8:30 a.m. for their eighth-straight Olympic gold medal and the first for Taylor.

Track & Field

Shamier Little qualified for her second Olympic final, as she and Team USA advanced first overall in the women's 4x400m relay. Little also ran the fastest split (49.22) of all athletes in the first round.
Charokee Young also advanced to the women's 4x400m relay final with Jamaica, she clocked a split of 51.21 as they won heat two and advance fourth overall to the final.
Bryce Deadmon continued to perform at the highest level at the Games, as the three-time Olympic medalist and Team USA qualified for the men's 4x400m final with a time of 2:59.15 which was good for third overall.
Brandon Miller concluded his debut Olympics, placing 17th in the men's 800m semifinals with a time of 1:45.79.
Yasser Mohammed Triki wrapped up his second Olympics with a ninth-place finish in the triple jump, leaping 17.22m/56-6.

Diving

Australia's Jaxon Bowshire punched his ticket to the 10m platform semifinal with a 14th-place score of 390.30 in prelims.
