BIRMINGHAM – Texas A&M volleyball's Ifenna Cos-Okpalla was named SEC Defensive Player of the Week following a pair of road wins, the league announced Monday afternoon.
Cos-Okpalla added another honor to her impressive resume, as she garnered her third SEC Defensive Player of the Week nod, fifth conference accolade this season and 11th weekly award of her career following wins over LSU and Ole Miss. The senior racked up 10 blocks, 16 kills and added five aces in seven sets of work.
In the opening match of the week, the Flower Mound, Texas, native recorded her 10th game this season with five or more blocks, as she stuffed seven swings which moved her up to No. 6 in Texas A&M's career block list. Offensively, she added seven kills and was lights out from the service line with four kills which is the second largest total in a single game in her career.
The middle blocker closed out the weekend in Oxford adding another three blocks to her weekly total, while tacking on nine kills which is tied for her third largest total in a game this season.
Cos-Okpalla and the Aggies return to action Friday to host a top 10 matchup at Reed Arena, as they welcome No. 2 Texas with first serve set for 6:30 p.m.
