Nov 08, 2025 | Women's Tennis
BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION – The Texas A&M women's tennis team earned its second spot in the NCAA Singles and Doubles Championships with the efforts of Mia Kupres and Daria Smetannikov. The tandem won its ITA Central Regional Sectional semifinal match Saturday at Mitchell Tennis Center.
No. 38 Kupres/Smetannikov made quick work of Iowa State's Maria de la Paz Alberto/Stanislava Shulzhenko to cap off a 3-0 week. The Aggies now have a doubles team locked into the NCAA Championships along with No. 22 Kupres heading to the singles portion of the tournament.
Texas A&M has one last chance to punch a ticket to the NCAA Championships when Violeta Martinez battles No. 71 Daianne Hayashida of Iowa in an ITA Sectional consolation playoff match Sunday morning at 8 a.m. at Mitchell Tennis Center.
Martinez had two match points to lock a spot at the NCAA Championships Saturday but eventually lost her ITA Sectional quarterfinal match against No. 23 Lily Jones of Michigan, 2-6, 7-5, 7-5.
Anna Perelman won two matches at the H-E-B Invitational in Waco. She breat Rice's Ema Mracova in a bracket semifinal match, 6-2, 6-2. She paired with Avery Esquivel to claim a doubles consolation bracket contest against UTRGV's Hitakamya Narwal Singh/Rhea Makesar, 7-6(6).
