Women’s Basketball Falls on the Road at Mississippi State
Feb 23, 2025 | Women's Basketball
STARKVILLE – The Texas A&M women's basketball team fell at Mississippi State, 81-55, inside Humphrey Coliseum Sunday.
Lauren Ware led the Aggies (10-16, 3-11 SEC) with a season-high 19 points on 7-of-9 shooting. Ware also logged two blocks for her eighth multi-block game of conference play and 13th of the season.
Texas A&M started out in a 15-8 hole to begin the game, but consecutive triples from Kyndall Hunter ceased the momentum for State. The Aggies took their first lead at the 54 second mark after a perfectly executed high-low pass from Amirah Abdur Rahim to Jada Malone, 18-17. The Bulldogs (19-9, 6-8 SEC) would score on the final play of the quarter to regain the lead going into the second quarter, 19-18.
The Aggies took a 26-23 lead with 6:44 left in the half, but Mississippi State went on an 11-0 run that gave them a 34-26 advantage. The Bulldogs would build a 36-28 cushion before heading into the locker room.
The Bulldogs continued their strong play out of the half and extended the lead to 48-32. However, a triple from Erica Moon and a bucket by Malone cut things to 50-39 and forced a Bulldog timeout with 4:09 left in the third. After the timeout, Mississippi State went on a run that gave it a 63-39 lead going into the fourth.
The Aggies were unable to climb back into the game and fell 81-55 to Mississippi State.
The Maroon & White stays on the road for their next contest, playing at Vanderbilt Thursday, Feb. 27 at 6:30 p.m.
