Women’s Basketball Falls to No. 18 Tennessee to Conclude Season

GREENVILLE, S.C. – The Texas A&M women's basketball team had its 2024-25 campaign come to a close with a 77-37 loss to the No. 18 Tennessee Lady Volunteers in Wednesday's SEC Tournament first round action inside Bon Secours Wellness Arena.
Sahara Jones highlighted the A&M effort with her fifth career double-double in her final game as an Aggie. She scored 16 points and pulled down a career-high tying 13 rebounds.
Texas A&M (10-19) battled to a 13-11 lead after one quarter. The Maroon & White prevailed in the first 10 minutes thanks to a stout defense that forced Tennessee to shoot 19.0% (4-of-21) from the field.
The second quarter was tightly contested until Tennessee (22-8) went on a 14-2 surge over the final 5:27. The Volunteers staked claim to a 32-19 advantage at the intermission.
Texas A&M was unable to draw closer than 12 points in the third quarter. Tennessee scored the final 17 points of the period, including a 3-pointer by Jewel Spear at the buzzer to inflate its cushion to 60-28.
The Volunteers eventually built a 46-point lead before Jones scored the game's last six points in the final two minutes.
