BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION – Texas A&M women's basketball announced the signing of 6-1 Liberty guard Pien Steenbergen Tuesday.
"We are incredibly excited to sign Pien to our program," Head Coach Joni Taylor said. "She will give us great size and shooting on the perimeter, and she will add to our culture. We always look for young ladies that will fit into our family that will embrace the 12th Man, and Pien checks all of those boxes. We can't wait to get her to Aggieland."
The rising redshirt junior spent the last three years at Liberty, which was highlighted by an NCAA Tournament berth last year. Steenbergen averaged 14.8 minutes, 5.3 points, 3.0 rebounds and shot 36.4% from downtown during the 2024-25 campaign that resulted in a Conference USA Tournament and regular season title.
The Berlicum, Netherlands, native nailed two crucial 3-pointers in the CUSA Tournament Championship game versus Middle Tennessee that proved the difference in the 53-48 victory to send the Flames to the Big Dance.
During her freshman season, Steenbergen logged 17.2 minutes and shot a blistering 38.1% from deep. She was second on the team in triples (37) and percentage from beyond the arc. Steenbergen was named ASUN Freshman of the Week once during her rookie year.
Steenbergen has nailed multiple 3-pointers in 22 of her 66 career games, including four on two occasions. The Aggie hit four triples in the first round of the WNIT her freshman season and four against Randolph this past year that led to a career-high 15 points.
Steenbergen is the fourth transfer signee this offseason for Taylor and the Aggies. She joins Ny'Ceara Pryor, Fatmata Janneh and Lemyah Hylton as players to join Texas A&M this offseason.
