BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION – Texas A&M women's basketball and head coach Joni Taylor announced the addition of elite recruiter and former SEC standout Alexis Hyder as Assistant Coach and Recruiting Coordinator Sunday.
"Alexis a rising star in our profession that we are excited to be joining our staff," Taylor said. "As a former SEC student-athlete and pro, Alexis is a role model for what many of our players are striving to be. She is an elite recruiter and during the hiring process we knew that she was perfect for our program. I am happy to have Alexis complete our staff and get to work to prepare for the season."
Hyder comes to Texas A&M after spending the 2024-25 season at Utah State as an assistant coach. With the Aggies, Hyder helped secure an impressive transfer recruiting class this offseason, including former McDonald's All-American Aaliyah Gayles.
"I'm incredibly grateful for the opportunity to join Coach Joni Taylor and her amazing staff," Hyder said. "As a Texas native and former SEC player, it feels special to come back home and be part of a program with such strong tradition. I believe in Coach Taylor's vision and can't wait to pour into our student-athletes both on and off the court."
Prior to Utah State, Hyder served as recruiting coordinator for Lindenwood University during the 2023-24 season. The Austin native assisted in the development of Ellie Brueggemann who garnered All-OVC Second Team Honors in her freshman year.
Hyder also acted as video coordinator for North Texas from 2022-23. The elite recruiter began her coaching career at FIU during the 2019-20 campaign as assistant director of basketball operations.
Hyder was a professional basketball player from 2017-22 oversees in Sweden, Australia and Greece. In Sweden, Hyder led the league in rebounds twice and still holds the league record for career rebounds. She was also the 2017-18 Swedish League Best Center.
Hyder was a standout in college on the hardwood, spending her last three years at LSU where she was the LSWA Newcomer of the Year, All-Louisiana Second Team and AP All-SEC Honorable Mention in 2016. During the 2015-16 season, Hyder led the team in points (12.2) and rebounds (7.9). Hyder helped the Tigers to the NCAA Tournament in 2017 and closed her career with a 10-point, 12-rebound double-double in the Big Dance versus Cal.
Prior to LSU, Hyder started her collegiate career at North Texas where she was named to the All-Sun Belt Third Team her freshman season (2012-13) after averaging 14.2 points and 8.8 rebounds.
Hyder earned her bachelor's degree from LSU in 2016 in sports administration and her MBA from Utah State in 2025.
