Expected Weather Forces Lubbock Regional Into Sunday Start

LUBBOCK – Due to expected weather, the NCAA Lubbock Regional will begin Sunday, May 4 at the Rawls Course for the No. 19 Texas A&M women's golf team.
The regional was originally slated to begin Monday. However, rain and thunderstorms are anticipated that could impact the original schedule. The Aggies will tee off the first round at 1:30 p.m. directly after the team's practice round from No. 10. The remainder of the tournament will be slated to conclude by Wednesday.
Head coach Gerrod Chadwell is bringing a lineup of Cayetana Fernández García-Poggio, Vanessa Borovilos, Kynadie Adams, Sky Sudberry and Mia Nixon. Lauren Nguyen will serve as the alternate.
The Aggies have advanced to the NCAA Championships in each of Chadwell's first three years. In order to move onto NCAAs in Carlsbad, California, May 16-21, Texas A&M will need to finish within the top five of the 12-team field after three rounds. The Maroon & White is the No. 4 seed at the regional with Texas (6), Wake Forest (7) and Arizona (18) rounding out the top four. Also advancing will be the low individual not on an advancing squad.
Texas A&M is led by Cayetana Fernández García-Poggio who was tabbed as an All-SEC First Team selection this season. The sophomore leads the team with a 71.2 stroke average and has won two individual titles this year. The Spaniard is fresh off tying for seventh at the SEC Championships.
Vanessa Borovilos is also a huge piece for the Aggies. The collegiate rookie was named to the All-SEC Second Team and the All-Freshman Team for her stellar play this season.
