LaViolette Drafted 27th Overall by the Cleveland Guardians

ATLANTA – Texas A&M's all-time home run leader Jace LaViolette was selected 27th overall by the Cleveland Guardians in the 2025 Major League Baseball Draft Sunday evening from the Coca-Cola Roxy in Atlanta, Georgia.
With the selection, the Aggies have produced a first-round draft pick in back-to-back seasons for the first time since 2019-20. LaViolette is the 15th player in program history to be taken in the first round of the MLB Draft and the first Texas A&M student-athlete selected by the Guardians since Tyler Naquin in 2012.
In his final season in the Maroon & White, LaViolette started all 56 games and slashed .258/.427/.576 to go along with nine doubles, 18 homers and 61 RBI. The junior totaled a team-best 19 multi-RBI contests, 15 multi-hit games and four multi-homer performances on the year. LaViolette also logged a team-high 57 walks and a 1.003 OPS.
The Katy, Texas, native left his mark in the Texas A&M record book as his 68 career home runs and 169 walks rank first in program history. In addition, the junior finished his career ranked third in RBI with 202, fourth in total bases with 443 and fifth in runs with 193. The left-handed slugger is also the only player in program history to record back-to-back seasons of 20 homers, accomplishing the feat during the 2023 and 2024 campaigns.
LaViolette started all 188 games throughout his three-year career in Aggieland and helped lead
Texas A&M to the College World Series Finals for the first time in program history during the 2024 season. The junior also became the ninth two-time All-American and the 64th two-time All-Conference selection in school history following the 2025 season.
