Aug 01, 2025 | Track and Field
EUGENE – Former Texas A&M standout Will Williams headlined the second day of the USATF Outdoor Championships claiming silver in the men's long jump Friday evening at Hayward Field.
Capturing the Aggies first medal of the outdoor championships was Williams in the men's long jump. He made his mark in the fourth round with a leap of 8.14m/26-8.5 to capture the lead in the event. His leap held to the final round where he was narrowly passed by one centimeter for the gold. This marks Williams' second national medal of the season, as he won the indoor championships in February.
Bryce Deadmon opened his championships campaign on the front foot, as he topped a stacked field in the men's 400m. He ran out of the opening heat, crossing the line in 44.34 which held as the fastest time of the prelims and advanced him as the No. 1 seed to Saturday's final.
The men's 800m duo of Brandon Miller and Donavan Brazier picked up where they left off from Thursday's opening round, as they finished 1-2, respectively, in the semifinals. The pair ran in heat one with Miller pacing the group with a time of 1:44.25, while Brazier was right behind in 1:44.39.
Timara Chapman concluded her heptathlon campaign, as she finished fourth overall with 6,065 points. She opened the second day in the long jump where she leaped 5.92m/19-5.25. She followed that up in the javelin, recording a mark of 41.21m/135-2 and wrapped her championships in the 800m with a time of 2:12.63.
