Aug 03, 2025 | Track and Field
EUGENE – Former Texas A&M standout Donavan Brazier won the men's 800m national title at the USA Track & Field Outdoor Championships Sunday at Hayward Field.
Brazier continued to define a comeback season, claiming the 800m gold medal at the USATF Championships. The Aggie all-time great returned to competition this year following a three-year break due to injury, growing from strength-to-strength throughout this season, culminating in a personal-best performance in Sunday's final crossing the line in 1:42.16 which ranks as the No. 16 mark in world history.
Brandon Miller joined Brazier in the 800m final, as the 2024 Olympian also ran a career-best time of 1:43.14 which landed him fifth in the event.
Ja'Qualon Scott continued to prove himself as a premier hurdler, as he advanced out of this morning's 110m hurdles semifinals and placed fifth overall and second among collegians in the evening's final with a time of 13.25. Connor Schulman also competed in the semis, narrowly missing the final after running a season-best mark of 13.36.
James Smith II secured another top-eight finish for the Maroon & White, this time in the 400m hurdles after crossing the line in 49.61 which was good for seventh.
Jasmine Montgomery concluded her championships in the semifinals of the women's 200m, where she crossed the line in 23.22.
