
Freshcorn Tabbed to Stopper of the Year Preseason Watch List by NCBWA

DALLAS – Texas A&M relief pitcher Clayton Freshcorn was named to the Preseason Watch List for the National College Baseball Writers Association Stopper of the Year Award, which is given to the top relief pitcher in college baseball.
The righty adds to his preseason accolades after being recognized on the Preseason All-SEC Second Team.
A native of Waller, Texas, Freshcorn made 23 relief appearances in 2025 for the Maroon & White. Across 27.0 innings, he logged a 2-2 record, a 4.67 ERA, a 1.22 WHIP, and struck out 33 batters while issuing just nine walks.
Freshcorn recorded two saves in the 2025 campaign, with the first coming in his Aggie debut in the season opener against Elon, where he tossed 1.1 innings, allowing no hits or earned runs and striking out one. His second save came in the second round of the SEC Tournament against Auburn where he notched the final out to secure a 3-2 victory.
One of his most impressive outings came in the quarterfinals of the SEC Tournament against eventual national champion LSU. In 3.1 innings of relief, Freshcorn allowed no hits, no runs, no walks, and struck out five.
Freshcorn was tabbed as the No. 29 relief pitcher in the country according to D1Baseball's Preseason Player Rankings.
No. 25 Texas A&M opens the 2026 season on Friday, Feb. 13 against Tennessee Tech, with first pitch slated for 6 p.m. from Olsen Field at Blue Bell Park.
