FAYETTEVILLE – Texas A&M track & field's Aleksandr Solovev secured a second-place finish in the men's pole vault with a school record performance on the opening day of the NCAA Indoor Championships Friday at the Randal Tyson Track Center.
Solovev highlighted the opening day of the national championships, as he rewrote the pole vault record books once again with a school-record clearance of 5.80m/19-0.25. He soared over six bars, culminating in the new program best mark to claim the second-place finish and added eight points to the team total.
Henry Zimmerman put the men's team on the board, securing his best finish at the National Indoor Championships after taking fifth in the weight throw. He recorded a toss of 22.83m/74-11 in the second round which held throughout the meet and secured four points to the team total.
