Women’s Basketball Named USBWA Team of the Week
Mar 03, 2026 | Women's Basketball
INDIANAPOLIS – The Texas A&M women's basketball team was named the USBWA Team of the Week after picking up two wins in the final week of the regular season, the organization announced Tuesday.
The Aggies defeated fellow NCAA Tournament bubble team Mississippi State, 68-64, and earned a Quad 1 road win at No. 19 Ole Miss, 66-58. The pair of wins capped off a five-game winning streak and victories in six of the final seven games of the regular season for the Aggies.
During the seven-game stretch, Texas A&M picked up three ranked wins, two of which were on the road. The Aggies' NET ranking and WAB have risen 31 and 23 spots, respectively, since Feb. 15. The Maroon & White's WAB is No. 33 in the country, which is second among the other 15 teams on Charlie Creme's latest bracketology. Additionally, Texas A&M is tied for the most ranked wins among all bubble teams with Colorado, who the Aggies beat in non-conference play.
The Maroon & White have played the fewest Quad 3 and Quad 4 games combined in the country (9) and 50% of their wins have come against Quad 1 and Quad 2 opponents (7). Texas A&M boasts the No. 4 NET SOS in the country. No other team on the bubble is ranked in the top 15 in the category and 14 of the bubble squads sit outside of the top 35.
Texas A&M started conference play 1-8 before going 6-1 down the stretch to earn the No. 10 seed in the SEC Tournament. The Aggies look to extend their winning streak to six against Auburn Wednesday, March 4 in the first round of the SEC Tournament at 5 p.m. inside Bon Secours Wellness Arena.
