Aggies Wrap Up Day One at NCAA Championships

CARLSBAD, Calif. – Wheaton Ennis paced the No. 20 Texas A&M men's golf team to open the NCAA Championships Friday morning at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa.

Ennis wrapped up the first round in a 15-way tie for 22nd place, carding a 1-under 71 on the par-72, 7,538-yard course. He sits just five strokes off the pace set by San Diego's Ian Maspat, who surged into the early lead with a 6-under 66.

The Aggies finished the day in 26^th place with a score of 11-over 299 sitting one stroke behind Mississippi State. UCLA sits alone in first at 8-under 280 with Auburn creeping up in second at 4-under.

Trailing Ennis, Shiv Parmar shot a 3-over 75, while Jaimie Montojo sits one shot behind him after turning in a 4-over 76.

The Aggies continue their outing over the next couple of days looking to make their way up the leaderboard to be one of 15 teams to qualify for the final day of stoke play. They tee off Saturday's action with tee times starting at 1:50 p.m.
