Sho Arai joined the Athletics Department in August 2021 and serves as associate athletic trainer for Aggies. He is responsible for prevention and care for injuries for both Men’s and Women’s tennis teams. He is also a sports medicine physiotherapist for United States Tennis Association (USTA) and providing medical services at professional tennis tournaments in the United States.
Arai came to Aggieland after six years as an assistant athletic trainer at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. While with the Islanders, he provided comprehensive healthcare to multiple sports while serving as the sports performance coach for Islander tennis program as well.
Prior to his time at TAMUCC, he earned his Master of Science degree in post-professional athletic training and gained experiences at Texas State University as a graduate assistant athletic trainer. He assisted the baseball and track & field programs while teaching athletic training courses for two years. He also completed his undergraduate degree in athletic training at State University of New York at Cortland.
Arai is a native of Saitama, Japan. He currently resides in College Station with his wife, Jaycee, a daughter, Shion, and a dog and two cats.
