TEXAS A&M POSTGAME NOTES
Redshirt freshman Ryan Tannehill had 104 receiving yards on FIVEcatches. He is the first freshman to have consecutive 100-yard receiving games in school history. The last Aggie to have consecutive 100-yard receiving games was then-senior Jason Carter in 2005 when he had 143 vs. SMU and 219 vs. Texas State.
Junior Mike Goodson's nine catches (for 62 yards) were the most by an Aggie running back since Keith Woodside set the RB school record with 12 catches (for 95 yards) vs. Arkansas in 1986. Goodson now has 84 career catches which trails only Woodside among running backs.
Ray Guy Award candidate Justin Brantly had the 35th 40-yard-plus punting game against Tech with a 45.0 average on five boots. He also logged the 49th "coffin corner" punt of his career and trails only Shane Lechler's 59 career punts deposited inside the 20.
Senior Arkeith Brown's return of true freshman Tony Jerod-Eddie's extra point block late in the fourth quarter marked the first time A&M has returned a blocked PAT for a score.
The Aggies' first half passing, total offense and point outputs were season highs. A&M passed for 227 yards (old first half season high was 160 vs. Miami), gained a total of 274 yards (previous high was 226 vs. Miami), and scored 23 points (previous high was 21 vs. New Mexico). A&M held the ball for a whopping 20:15 and scored on five of six drives. The Aggies also grabbed a pair of turnovers, which were converted into 10 points.
True freshman placekicker Randy Bullock, in his second career game, booted a 46-yard field goal, which was the longest by an Aggie since a 46-yarder by Layne Neumann against Baylor in 2004. The last time A&M booted a longer field goal was 2001 when Cody Scates nailed a 48-yarder against Baylor.
Redshirt freshman Jerrod Johnson briefly left the game late in the first quarter. He lined up at quarterback for just one play and had a rush for no gain on a draw play.
Game captains were Arkeith Brown's and Kenny Brown.
Ryan O'Bryant, a junior walkon fullback from Houston Nimitz HS, made his first-ever start at 12th Man.
