CHICAGO- Texas A&M's women's basketball team got 20 points from Courtney Walker, as the Aggies defeated New Mexico 66-52 in the Maggie Dixon Classic in McGrath-Phillips Arena.
The Aggies (2-0) led by one point at halftime, but used a 12-3 run early in the second half to take a 39-29 lead, and remained in control for the remainder of the game. New Mexico (0-2) led for just 42 seconds of game time, and never by more than a single point.
Walker led all scorers with 20 points. The game was Walker's 50th career double-digit scoring effort and 15th straight double-digit scoring game, dating back to last season. She needs 27 more points to become the 26th Aggie with 1,000 career points. Walker also had six rebounds and three assists.
Tavarsha Scott-Williams led the Aggies with a career-high 11 rebounds.
Freshman Khaalia Hillsman made her first collegiate start in her second collegiate game. Hillsman, who is from Chicago's Whitney Young High School, had nine rebounds and eight points
The Aggies wrap up the Maggie Dixon Classic with UTPA at 2 p.m. on Sunday, November 16. The Aggies' home opener in November 19 in Reed Arena, as former Southwest Conference foe Rice visits at 7 p.m.
