COLLEGE STATION—The No. 7-ranked Texas A&M equestrian team travels to Fresno State for a tri-meet with No. 8 Fresno State and No. 9 New Mexico State hosted at the Student Horse Center in Fresno, Calif.
"This will be a challenging weekend on the road against some very good competition in New Mexico State and Fresno State," Aggie head coach Tana McKay said. "We started the fall portion of the schedule on the road against the top-ranked team in the country and dropped a hard-fought meet (9-10). We are looking to continue to improve this weekend before coming back home next Thursday to host South Carolina in an SEC matchup."
Texas A&M, 0-1 on the year, will begin Friday against the Aggies of New Mexico State at 4:30 pm central in horsemanship and equitation on the flat. New Mexico State is 2-3 on the young season.
The meet will conclude on Saturday with the Aggie programs, Texas A&M and New Mexico State, finishing the meet with reining and horsemanship at 11 a.m.
Texas A&M and the host Fresno State Bulldogs, 2-3, will compete against each other in all four phases of the competition beginning at 4:30 p.m. Saturday.
Most Outstanding Player ceremonies will be held at the conclusion of all three head-to-head matchups.
The Aggies were led by a couple of seniors in earlier competition as western riders Logan Pluhar of Canyon, Tex., and Ashley Dotson, from Reno, Nev. were named National Collegiate Equestrian Association (NCEA) September Riders of the Month after standout performances in the Aggies' season-opening meet at Georgia.
Pluhar was named Horsemanship Rider of the Month. Her meet-best score of 77 earned her a head-to-head win at Georgia and was her first MVP performance since 2013-2014.
Dotson earned Reining Rider of the Month honors after a 73-point performance that garnered a win over her Georgia foe. Both riders helped lead Texas A&M to a 6-3 win in the western discipline against the Georgia Bulldogs.
