BRYAN–COLLEGE STATION – No. 7 Texas A&M fell to No. 10 Miami, 10-3, in a defensive slugfest at Kyle Field on Saturday to conclude its season in the College Football Playoff first round.
The Aggie defense held Miami's offense to just 12 first downs and a mere 3-of-12 on third down conversations while outgaining the Hurricanes 326-278 in total offense but were outrushed 175-89 and had three key turnovers that proved to be the difference in the match.
Senior cornerback Will Lee III, junior safety Dalton Brooks and junior linebacker Daymion Sanford each tallied seven tackles to lead the Maroon & White on defense. Redshirt sophomore quarterback Marcel Reed completed 25-of-39 pass attempts for 237 yards, while adding 27 yards on the ground. Sophomore receiver Mario Craver led all wideouts with 92 yards on seven receptions.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Aggies and Hurricanes battled to a scoreless tie in the opening half, marking the first instance of a scoreless half in a College Football Playoff game.
- Miami charted the first points of the contest on the opening drive of the third quarter, after Carter Davis converted a 21-yard field goal.
- Texas A&M answered with 8:03 remaining in the game when Randy Bond sent a 35-yard field goal through the uprights to knot the score at three apiece.
- The Hurricanes then took the late advantage when quarterback Carson Beck tossed the ball to wide receiver Malachi Toney who took it 11 yards into the end zone, putting Miami up 10-3 with 1:49 left to play.
- The Aggies tried to rally and drove 70 yards in 10 plays over 1:20 but an interception in the red zone secured the win for the visitors.
GAME NOTES
- Texas A&M ended 2025 with an 11-2 record, which was the second-most wins in a season in school history behind 1992's 12-1 worksheet. The Aggies tied for the best record in the SEC regular season at 7-1, which was the program's highest finish. The season also included the program's first College Football Playoff appearance.
- Saturday's crowd of 104,122 marked the second-largest crowd in College Football Playoff history behind only a 106,013 crowd at last year's SMU-Penn State clash at Beaver Stadium.
- The Aggies held an opponent scoreless in a half for the fifth time this season and third time to begin a game.
- Texas A&M held Miami to 278 yards of offense, which tied for the third fewest yards by a team in the first round of a College Football Playoff game.
- Brooks forced the first fumble of his career with 7:11 remaining in the game.
- Reed passed for 237 yards to surpass the 3,000-yard plateau for a season. He became just the sixth player in program history to pass for over 3,000 yards in a season and finished with the fifth most in a year in the school lore with 3,169.
