Women’s Hoops Prepares for Cotton Holdings Lone Star Showdown with Texas

BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION – The Texas A&M women's basketball team is set to take part in the Cotton Holdings Lone Star Showdown Sunday night at 5 p.m. inside Reed Arena versus No. 5 Texas.
The Aggies (10-10, 3-5 SEC) are 9-3 at home this season with two ranked wins in Reed Arena versus then-No. 25 Ole Miss and No. 11 Kentucky. Both wins saw Texas A&M overcome double-digit deficits. Only two teams this year have scored more than 65 points against the Aggies at home.
The Maroon & White will see nearly 100 former players and staff members return to the Brazos Valley for Sunday's game, including the 1993-94 team which became the first team in program history to advance to the Sweet 16.
The Aggies are No. 6 in the country in NET strength of schedule and will be playing their ninth ranked opponent this season. They are bolstered by an elite rim protector in Lauren Ware who is averaging 1.9 blocks per game and has the team ranked No. 13 in the country in swats per contest (5.2).
During conference play, Texas A&M is No. 2 in 3-point field goal percentage defense (27.4%) and No. 3 in overall field goal percentage defense (40.2%).
Texas (21-2, 7-1 SEC) comes into the game on a five-game winning streak. Its two losses both came on the road. They are led by All-American Madison Booker who is averaging 16.1 points and 6.1 rebounds per game.
