MEET PREVIEW: Alumni Muster

BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION – The Texas A&M track & field team returns home to host the Alumni Muster Saturday at E.B. Cushing Stadium with events starting at 9 a.m.
Concluding their regular season home slate, the Maroon & White host the fifth annual Alumni Muster. This marks the second of three outdoor home meets of the season, before they return to host the NCAA West Prelims later in the postseason.
In the most recent U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association's rankings list, the Aggies hold top-three spots on both the men's and women's side. The Aggie men sit at the No. 2 slot in the nation, while the women are right behind in third. Throughout the first six weeks of the outdoor season both teams have ranked in the top-three in all the rankings checkpoints.
Last Time Out
The Aggies competed in the penultimate week of the regular season, as they split travel between the Penn Relays and the J. Fred Duckett Twilight meet. The team captured three school records, won 13 events and secured 11 personal-best performances over the weekend.
Debora Cherono highlighted the Penn Relays with a school record time in the 3,000m steeplechase with a mark of 9:57.07. Victor Kibiego ensured the steeple sweep with a mark of 8:37.33 sending the Aggies home with both titles. A&M claimed another three wins in Philadelphia, including the women's 4x100m (43.75), men's 4x400m (3:02.36) and Ja'Qualon Scott in the 110m hurdles (13.64).
The Maroon & White's eight other victories came at the Twilight meet, where Aleksandr Solovev (5.61m/18-4.75) and Heather Abadie (3.96m/13-0) swept the pole vault events. They were followed by Abigail Martin in the discus (54.41m/178-6), McKenzie Fairchild in the javelin (48.97m/160-8), Iliya Dryaba in the 200m (21.97), Tyler Lowe in the 400m (54.48) and concluded by Shewaye Johnson (16:26.81) and Carter Gordy (14:27.86) in the 5,000m.
The Field
The Aggies are set to compete against 14 teams in the field, including Baylor, HCU, Incarnate Ward, Lamar, Louisville, McNeese State, Missouri, North Texas, Rice, SFA, Texas A&M Corpus Christi, Sam Houston, UT Rio Grande Valley and UTSA.
Top-Ranked Aggies
The Maroon & White claim five of the country's top-five spots on the women's side, with Sofia Yakushina leading the way at No. 1 in the heptathlon (6,260). Camryn Dickson secured two spots in the 100m (11.06) and 200m (22.48), Jaiya Covington also logged a ranking in the 100m hurdles (12.77) and Winny Bii in the triple jump (13.74m/45-1).
The Aggie men hold six top-five marks in the country, including Auhmad Robinson in the 200m (20.21) and 400m (44.61), Scott in the 110m hurdles (13.30) and 400m hurdles (49.37), the 4x400m relay team (3:02.15) and Solovev in the pole vault (5.56m/18-2.75).
Senior Class
The list of 20 seniors the team is honoring includes Heather Abadie, Bria Bullard, Cooper Cawthra, Nicole Chastain, Jordan Chopane, Riley Floerke, Brooke Forbes, Victoria Kadiri, Mason Mangum, Bryce McCray, Madison Murray, Antonie Nortje, Auhmad Robinson, Latasha Smith, Elise Smoot, Isaiah Teer, Kennedy Wade, Sam Whitmarsh, Jaydan Wood, Cutler Zamzow.
