Abadie’s School Record Highlights Senior Day

BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION – Texas A&M track & field's Heather Abadie broke her own pole vault school record Saturday at the Alumni Muster meet during the program's annual senior day.
Headlining the Maroon & White's day was Abadie in the women's pole vault, as she put out a career-best performance on her own senior day. The Baton Rouge, Louisiana, native downed her school record with an impressive clearance of 4.41m/14-5.5. Abadie's mark now ensures her the top-10 performances in the school's record books.
A&M's day got started on the track, as the tone was set by the 5,000m groups after sweeping both the men's and women's events. Shewaye Johnson secured the first win of the day after crossing the line with a time of 16:33.53, finishing over 20 seconds ahead of her closest competition. On the men's side Aiden Gonzalez-Rodiles followed suit, bringing home first place in 14:32.31, while Noah Willows claimed third with a mark of 14.41.82.
Capturing the first win in the field was senior Mason Mangum, as he dominated in the men's long jump with a leap of 7.70m/25-3.25 to capture first-place. On the women's side, Sofia Yakushina delivered a season-best leap with a mark of 6.41m/21-0.5 which was good for third place.
Abigail Martin kept up the winning ways in the discus, as she secured first place in the women's event with a season-best toss of 58.00m/190-3 which also broke the Alumni Muster meet record. Carlie Weiser also stood out in the event with a podium finish, placing third with a mark of 50.72m/166-5, while Ethan Sanders claimed second in the men's event after a toss of 55.35m/181-7.
Camryn Dickson had an impressive day in the women's 100m with a wind-aided time of 11.04 for the win, while Jasmine Montgomery was right behind in second (11.13). On the men's side Ernest Campbell finished as the top colligate, taking second overall with an assisted time of 10.23.
Montgomery captured her own title in the 200m with an all-conditions best mark of 22.17, while A&M also secured third, fifth and sixth in the event courtesy of Dickson (22.34), Kennedy Wade (23.50) and Yakushina (23.55), respectively.
Continuing the momentum on the oval was Ja'Qualon Scott, as the Aggie junior won the 400m hurdles with a time of 50.04 after a battle down the home stretch and a dip at the line.
Staucie Lees secured the eighth win of the day for the Maroon & White, as she won her second 3,000m steeplechase title of the year, this time with a mark of 10:40.93. Her time also jumped her up a spot to No. 10 on the all-time performers list.
Closing the meet on top for the Aggies were the men's and women's 4x400m relay groups. The quartet consisting of Tyler Lowe, Latasha Smith, Jaydan Wood and Wade, topped the women's event as the group crossed the line in 3:32.42, while the men's team including Eric Hemphill III, Auhmad Robinson, Antonie Nortje and Hossam Eddine Hatib grabbed the 10th and final victory of the day in 3:05.02.
