
No. 7 Women's Golf Set to Start Season at Carmel Cup

PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. – The No. 7 Texas A&M women's golf team begins its 2025-26 season at the iconic Pebble Beach Golf Links at the Carmel Cup Aug. 29-31.
Texas A&M is led by fifth year head coach Gerrod Chadwell who has guided the Aggies to match play at the NCAA championships three times with two semifinal appearances, and the programs first NCAA Individual National Champion in 2024. This year marks the fourth year in a row that the Maroon & White have played in the Carmel Cup, placing fourth in last year's event and a runner-up finish in 2022.
The Lineup
The Aggie lineup features veteran Cayetana Fernandez Garcia-Poggio who is coming off a season where she had a 71.33 stroke average that ranked fourth best in program history and was tabbed with All-SEC First Team honors. Also making the trip is Vanessa Borovilos who shot a U.S. Women's Amateur single-round record 9-under 63 in the final round of stroke play this summer. Borovilos and Fernandez Garcia-Poggio were both named Golfweek Preseason All-Americans this year, earning spots on the second and third teams, respectively. Sky Sudberry is the third returner in the lineup for the Maroon & White. Sudberry was a mainstay in last year's lineup, playing 24 rounds for Texas A&M and posted four top-20 finishes.
The Aggies will have three talented freshmen making their debuts led by Scarlett Schremmer, a Golfweek Preseason All-America Third Team selection, who is ranked No. 62 in the World Amateur Golf Ranking and the No. 2 overall player that came out of the 2025 class. Natalie Yen will also begin her collegiate career after winning the 2025 U.S. Women's Amateur Four-Ball Championship. The third freshman in the lineup is Brynn Kort who was the No. 5 overall player freshman this year.
The Format
The Carmel Cup is a six-player lineup tournament with the five best scores from each team counting at the end of the round. Texas A&M will play 18 holes on each of the three-day tourney that tees off Friday at 9:46 a.m. Live stats for the tournament can be followed at scoreboard.clippd.com.
