Reed Among Davey O’Brien Great 8, Manning Award Stars of the Week

BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION – Texas A&M quarterback Marcel Reed was named to the Davey O'Brien Great 8 and a Manning Award Star of the Week, the organizations announced Monday.
Reed threw for 360 yards and two touchdowns averaging 21.2 yards per completion, while adding 37 yards on seven carries in A&M's 41-40 win over No. 8 Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana. Reed connected with tight end Nate Boerkircher in the end zone with 13 seconds remaining, completing a 13-play, 74-yard game winning drive. The sophomore extended the final drive with a 9-yard rush on third-and-8 with 1:07 remaining to enter the Irish red zone.
The Nashville native surpassed the 300-yard passing mark for the second time in his career, while his 397 yards of total offense were a career high. Reed became the 18th Aggie QB to eclipse the 3,000-yard plateau in passing yards, bringing his career total to 3,107 yards.
Reed was one of eight quarterbacks named to each of the lists. The Davey O'Brien National QB of the Week will be announced Tuesday at 11 a.m., while the Manning Award Quarterback of the Week will be announced Thursday.
