BIRMINGHAM – Texas A&M graduate Albert Regis earned SEC Defensive Lineman of the Week honors on Monday for his strong performance in the No. 10 Aggies' 41-40 road win over the then-No. 8 Notre Dame Fighting Irish, the conference office announced. It was the first SEC weekly honor of Regis' career.
Regis, a defensive tackle from LaPorte, Texas, was a disruptive force in the middle as he tallied a career-high seven tackles, including five solo stops, which was also a career best. It was the most tackles by an Aggie defensive tackle since McKinnley Jackson had 12 against Ole Miss in 2022.
The 6-1, 317-pound Regis was credited with a sack on an intentional grounding penalty that thwarted the Irish's initial drive of the second half and forced a punt. Four of his seven tackles were for a Notre Dame gain of 2 yards or less as the Aggies limited the Irish to 136 rushing yards (3.5 per rush).
For the season, Regis leads the Aggies' defensive front with 15 tackles, including nine solo stops and a sack. Regis' 15 tackles rank No. 2 among all SEC defensive tackles.
