TOURNAMENT PREVIEW: OFCC/Fighting Illini Invitational

OLYMPIA FIELDS, Ill. – The No. 20 Texas A&M men's golf team heads to prestigious Olympia Fields Country Club for the 19th annual OFCC/Fighting Illini Invitational contested Friday to Sunday.
The tournament features a powerhouse 15-team field that mirrors the highest level of collegiate golf. Fourteen of the programs earned berths in the 2025 NCAA Regionals with 11 advancing to the NCAA Championship. The field also includes four of the final eight teams from match play at the NCAA Championship.
Olympia Fields Country Club is one of just 10 golf courses to host both multiple U.S. Opens and multiple PGA Championships. The par-70, 7,353-yard North Course is a pristine parkland course featuring tree-lined fairways and challenging bunkers.
Texas A&M's lineup is anchored by sophomore Wheaton Ennis, a 2024 GCAA and SEC All-Freshman honoree who closed last season ranked No. 82 nationally. He is joined by junior Aaron Pounds, fresh off his first collegiate victory as co-medalist at the 2nd Swing Gopher Invitational. Senior Jaime Montojo brings veteran consistency, while juniors Jack Usner and Kris Kuvaas round out a balanced Aggie five.
The Aggies claimed the team title at the event in 2017 and Cameron Champ was the individual medalist in 2016.

The North Course has hosted two U.S. Opens (1928, 2003), two PGA Championships (1925, 1961), five Western Opens, one U.S. Amateur Championship (2015), two BMW Championships (2020, 20203), one Women's PGA Championship (2017) and a U.S. Senior Open (1997). Legends of golf, including Walter Hagen, Jack Nicklaus and Sam Snead have earned titles here, along with more recent winners of the likes of Jim Furyk, Viktor Hovland and John Rahm. The course is a regular on the Top 100 presented by Golf Digest. The parkland course features deep bunkers, a winding creek and scenic tree-lined and meticulously groomed fairways.
