
Aggies Open Fall Campaign at Rice Invitational

HOUSTON – The Texas A&M women's tennis team begins its fall campaign with four players in action at the Rice Invitational at George Brown Tennis Center, contested Friday to Sunday.
Two newcomers play their first matches with the Aggies in Flight 1 Singles. Senior transfer Violeta Martinez battles SMU's Allie Bittner while Tilde Stromquist battles Sam Houston's Christine Jevicky. Freshman Anna Perelman debuts in Flight 2 Singles with a bout against SMU's Ellie Mireles. Senior Avery Esquivel opens Flight 3 Singles play against SMU's Caroline McGinley.
Martinez and Perelman are paired up in Flight 2 Doubles, opening the tournament against UTSA's Valerie Sanchez/Celine Absawi.
Friday's action begins with doubles starting at 9 a.m. followed by singles play at 11:30 a.m. Streaming will be available on RiceOwls.com.
The tournament field features players from Houston, North Texas, Rice, Sam Houston, SMU, UTRGV and UTSA. The eight-player singles flights will continue with semifinals action Saturday, and title matches Sunday.
