World Champion Argentina to Face Honduras at Kyle Field as Part of "Road to 26" Series
Apr 09, 2026 | Football, General, Soccer
COLLEGE STATION — International soccer giant and current World Champion Argentina will meet Honduras on June 6 at Kyle Field, the historic home of Texas A&M Football. The contest, part of the Road to 26 presented by Turkish Airlines, is set for 7 p.m. and will mark the second international soccer match in the history of one of college football's most storied venues.
"We look forward to seeing international soccer return to Kyle Field, especially ahead of the World Cup this summer," Texas A&M Director of Athletics Trev Alberts said. "This is a very exciting time for soccer across the world as well as in the state of Texas. It will be a great opportunity to welcome fans from all over to our campus and one of the most elite venues in college sports. We are always looking to advance the brand of Texas A&M to grow its established global reach and impact. We know hosting these kinds of events emphasizes that strategy and allows us to continue expanding our footprint."
Nicknamed La Albiceleste, Argentina sits at third in the latest FIFA world rankings and boasts a roster of superstars led by Lionel Messi, an eight-time Ballon d'Or winner and one of the world's most recognizable players. The three-time World Champions (1978, 1986 and 2022) have won all three of their previous matches against Honduras, including a 3-0 victory in a 2022 friendly in Miami, the most recent meeting between the teams.
Honduras is one of CONCACAF's contenders and had a strong showing at last summer's Gold Cup, where Los Catrachos fell to tournament champion Mexico 1-0 in a hard-fought semifinal battle.
The June 6 match will be only the second international soccer friendly played at the "Home of the 12th Man." Mexico faced Brazil at the venue in June of 2024 in front of 85,249 fans, setting a record for Mexico's men's national team in the Lone Star State at the time.
"We're proud to welcome international soccer back to College Station," said City of College Station Mayor John Nichols. "Events like this showcase our ability to host on a global stage and give our community and visitors the chance to experience something truly special right here at home."
The Road to 26, a series of high-profile soccer matches co-promoted by Unified Events and Florida Citrus Sports (FCS), kicked off in March and features international giants such as Brazil, France, Colombia and Egypt. Following the match at Kyle Field, Argentina will also face Iceland on June 9 at Auburn's Jordan-Hare Stadium in a final test before defending its world title this summer.
Tickets for both matches will go on sale on Wednesday, April 15, at 9 a.m. Fans may register for exclusive pre-sale access at RoadTo26.com. The current match schedule is included below.
