May 22, 2026 | Football
NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. – Texas A&M safety Marcus Ratcliffe was named to the Lott IMPACT Trophy Watch List, the organization announced.
Ratcliffe is one of three safeties named to the 42-man watch list and one of 13 players from the SEC.
In 2025, Ratcliffe ranked seventh among SEC safeties with 65 tackles, including 32 solo stops, while adding three pass breakups during his junior campaign. He recorded a season-high eight tackles against both Notre Dame Fighting Irish football and Mississippi State Bulldogs football and registered at least five tackles in eight contests. According to Pro Football Focus, Ratcliffe earned an 80.3 defensive grade, ranking sixth among SEC safeties.
Off the field, Ratcliffe serves as an ambassador for Mission 3:12, a charitable initiative he launched to support World War II veterans. Ratcliffe pledges $312 for every turnover recovered by the Texas A&M defense to help sponsor veterans on trips back to Normandy for the annual D-Day anniversary.
Ahead of the 2026 season, Ratcliffe was also named a team captain.
The Lott Trophy is awarded annually to the Defensive IMPACT Player of the Year who has made the biggest impact on his team both on and off the field. IMPACT stands for Integrity, Maturity, Performance, Academics, Community and Tenacity, traits exemplified by NFL Hall of Famer Ronnie Lott throughout his playing career.
Texas A&M opens the 2026 season against Missouri State on Sept. 5 before hosting Arizona State on Sept. 12 and Kentucky on Sept. 19. Kickoff times and television designations will be announced at a later date.
